The Power of Headlines: 4 Ways to Create Meaningful Headlines

Just how important are headlines?

Failure to make an impactful headline makes every other marketing strategy a waste of time.

So how do you write a meaningful headline? We’re glad you asked. We’ve given a view tactics on how to write a killer headline.

Give your readers a reason

You need to give your people a reason as to why they should read your content. What are you offering them? Your headline should signify that. Do you want to give your reader a lesson? A trick? Statistics? Or maybe you want to provide them with strategies. Whatever your intention, state it in your headline.

Call to action

When deciding on a headline, make sure you create a sense of urgency and something very specific. Here’s a great example

“Don’t miss these 4 easy tips on quick window washing.”

You’re creating a sense of urgency, telling the reader what the topic is about, how quickly it can be done, and how easy it is. There is no guessing for the reader, and it’s short and to the point.

Use numbers or data

“Numbers reach directly into our unconscious and say, “this message is important”. And according to the experts, numbers as figures/digits (i.e. “5”) work better on the Web than numbers that are spelled out as words (i.e. “five”)”- blogger, Mike Hamers

Get rid of

Finally, there is the get rid of formula. You want to catch a reader’s attention then give them a solution to a problem. This type of headline persuades the reader to click on your link to find out more.

Conclusion

Once you’ve established your eye-catching headline, it’s time to monitor your results.

You’ve heard us say this a million times, but you need to A/B test. That means create AT LEAST two headlines to split test. Then, make sure you’re tracking your campaigns and see which one is getting the most clicks.
